A native of Alexandria, Kentucky, Ian is nearing the end of his fourth year studying Music Education at Northern Kentucky University. He has been a member of the NKU Symphonic Winds since his arrival at NKU in 2009, with being co-principal the last two years. Caldwell has performed in many ensembles at NKU and has been given opportunities to perform with such names as Jeff Coffin, Vincent DiMartino, and Brad Goode.
During his time at Campbell County High School he performed along side of Tim Zimmermann and the Kings Brass as well as the Brass 'Ole's. Following high school Ian was a member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2009-2012. He was also selected as a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Band in 2012 and 2013. Ian is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Music Fraternity and the National Association For Music Educators. Caldwell has been a visual and brass instructor at Turpin High School since 2009 and has worked with Cincinnati area groups such as Kings High School, Dixie Heights High School and Highlands High School. His trumpet influences are from many great instructors including Chris Hedges, Dave Zeng, John Zappa, Dr. Raquel Rodriquez and Dr. Jonathan Gresham.
